Rector compensation
Rector Compensation & Housing Assistance Statement
We are looking forward to welcoming our new rector to our community!
Compensation guidelines are drawn from the Diocese of Olympia 2022 Parochial Clergy Salary Scale. For Grace Church, as a Grade B congregation, compensation for our new rector looks like this:
0 - 5 years’ experience — Salary range starts at $ 90,801
5 – 10 years’ experience — Salary range starts at $102,151 (90% of Midpoint)
10+ years' experience — Salary range starts at $113,501
We recognize that the cost of housing on Bainbridge Island and the surrounding areas is significantly more expensive than the national average. While growth around the Puget Sound may contribute to equity in the long term, it can be daunting to make such a large down payment, particularly if moving to this area from another less expensive area.
In light of the challenging market, we are committed to assisting our next rector, if needed, in finding and purchasing the home that fits their personal needs, although the form of this assistance will be situation dependent. We contributed $150,000 to our former rector’s down payment through a shared equity agreement. Although we can’t guarantee lenders will approve this particular approach again, we hope to reuse this fund to support our next rector as well.
If housing becomes a stumbling block in your discernment, we encourage you to discuss the topic with the Search Committee.
